Five persons, including two engineering students, were killed and one sustained serious injuries in two separate road accidents reported late on Tuesday (April 7, 2026) night in different parts of the State.
In the first incident, two engineering students were run over by a speeding car on Sagar Road in Vanasthalipuram Police Station limits at around 11.40 p.m.
The deceased were identified as 22-year-old K. Shiva and 19-year-old Sandeep Joel, both students of Mahaveer Institute of Science and Technology in Bandlaguda and residents of Santosh Nagar. The injured was identified as 23-year-old Sridhar, a pedestrian, who is currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital.
According to the police, Shiva and Sandeep were travelling on a motorcycle while Sridhar was crossing the road at the time of the accident.
All three were hit by a car — the driver of which fled the scene immediately after the incident. The exact sequence of events is yet to be established, and investigators are examining CCTV camera footage from the area.
