The Madras High Court Judge C. Saravanan said there are several layers of provisions regarding the income tax provisions for non-profit organisations (NPOs) and the book on this subject written by R. Ramachandran would come in handy not only for those engaged in dealing with the NPOs but also for the legal community. Mr. Saravanan launched the book ‘Income Tax provisions for NPOs - Journey from 1961 to 2025’ at a function held in the city on Tuesday. The book was released on behalf of the All India Federation of Tax Practitioners (AIFTP).

D. Sudhakara Rao, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Chennai), on receiving the first copy of the book, said the tax provisions for NPOs, which play an important role in various sectors, including in the growth of social welfare and social justice, are complex and not easy to apprehend. Mr. Rao appreciated Mr. Ramachandran, who is a Chartered Accountant, for getting the nuances of the Income Tax Act 2025, which replaced the older act of 1961, in a clear and comprehensive manner to make it understandable for even a lay person.

Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals) S. Maruthu Pandian and Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions) J. Premanand, also spoke on the occasion.
