Gurugram, May 28 (PTI) A large number of taxpayers, professionals and entrepreneurs gathered here on Thursday to learn about various aspects of the new income tax rule, which became effective from April this year.

An outreach programme titled ‘Prarambh 2026- Bridging Borders, Building Trust’, organised by the Income Tax Department, was aimed at creating awareness on transitioning towards the new Income-tax Act, 2025. The programmer focused on provisions related to international taxation, transfer pricing and advance pricing agreements, under the aegis of Anjula Jain, Commissioner of Income Tax (International Taxation)-2, New Delhi, according to an official statement.

The programme saw participation from taxpayers and professionals, including chartered accountants, and served as an important platform for mutual dialogue and knowledge sharing on the evolving taxation framework in India, it said. Speaking at the event, Monica Bhatia, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (International Taxation), New Delhi, highlighted the collective efforts of the department and its stakeholders in ensuring a smooth transition to the new income tax rule. Bhatia also emphasised the growing importance of cross-border transfer pricing mechanisms, international cooperation, and India’s expanding role in the global taxation ecosystem. Gurugram, a significant operational hub for international taxation, offers immense opportunities for capacity building and professional excellence in the field, she said, stressing the relevance of advance pricing agreements and safe harbour provisions in ensuring certainty and ease of compliance for taxpayers. Raman Chopra, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (International Taxation), New Delhi, highlighted various initiatives of the department, such as Kar Saathi, to facilitate awareness and stakeholder engagement.
