Scrutiny of nominations for the Assembly constituencies in Nagapattinam district was completed on Tuesday with 26 of the 63 nominations rejected by election authorities.

In Vedaranyam constituency, 13 nominations were accepted, including eight independents. Among recognised political parties, nominations of T. Karthik (Naam Tamilar Katchi), N. Pugazhendi (DMK) and O.S. Manian (AIADMK) were accepted. Among registered unrecognised political parties, A. Kingsley Gerald (Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam) and M. Lingeshwaran (All India Puratchi Thalaivar Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam) were in the fray.

In the Kilvelur (SC) constituency, 10 nominations were accepted, including four independents. Among recognised political parties, M. Karthika (Naam Tamilar Katchi) and T. Latha (CPI-M) were in the fray. Among registered unrecognised political parties, K. Surendar (Puthiya Tamizhagam Katchi), P. Senthil Pandian (Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam), Vetha Mugundhan (Anaithinthiya Jananayaka Pathukappu Kazhagam) and S. Vadivel Ravanan (Pattali Makkal Katchi) were accepted.

In Nagapattinam constituency, 14 nominations were accepted. Among recognised political parties, Thanga Kathiravan (AIADMK), S. Fathima Farhana (Naam Tamilar Katchi) and M.H. Jawahirullah (DMK) were in the fray. Among registered unrecognised political parties, M. Sugumar (Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam), J.V. Durai (All India Youth Development Party), K. Rajasekar (Puthiya Tamizhagam Katchi) and E. Vallabadas (Tamilaga Vaazhvurimai Katchi) were accepted. Seven independents are also in the fray in the constituency.
