Following a massive year-long redevelopment, the State Government-run library on 11th Avenue at Ashok Nagar, has emerged as a grand landmark. The decades-old library which was a small structure is now a prominent building and one cannot miss it.
Following the completion of the redevelopment work, carried out by Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority at a cost of ₹12 crore, the library was reopened last month. The carpet area of the library has gone up significantly. Further, the lights, walls and furniture lend the library a sleek look.

There are different reading halls meant for various purposes which include reading of periodicals and newspapers, a lending section and a children’s books section. Besides, a hall where people can bring their own books to read has been provided.
An exclusive restroom has been set up for the differently-abled. The parking area has been increased and it sports gallery.
