Representatives of various women’s, Dalit, and civil society organisations on Monday met Visakhapatnam District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore during the Public Grievance Redressal System programme, demanding a judicial inquiry into the murder of Polipalli Mounika in Gajuwaka.

The victim’s parents, along with activists, submitted a representation seeking a probe into the incident involving Navy employee Ravindra, who is the prime accused in the case.

The delegation included Mounika’s parents, Venugopal, Progressive Organisation of Women State President M. Lakshmi, All India Democratic Women’s Association leaders Satyavati and Mani, and advocates Giridhar, Syed, Mahesh, Venkatalakshmi, and Balanagamma.

The delegation expressed serious concern over the ongoing police investigation, alleging that the authorities are merely echoing the version of events provided by the accused rather than uncovering the truth.

They criticised the Assistant Commissioner of Police for acting like a judge by prematurely concluding that the accused had no criminal history and was allegedly “provoked” by financial pressure. The activists argued that such narratives unfairly shift the blame onto the victim and tarnish her character after her death.
