The wife of former Additional District Magistrate Naveen Babu has petitioned the First Class Magistrate Court here demanding a fresh investigation into her husband’s death, alleging lapses in the special investigation team probe.

K. Manjusha in her petition filed on Tuesday enumerated 13 flaws in the chargesheet asserting that key evidence was neither gathered nor properly examined. Among the shortcomings she cited were the failure to secure call detail records (CDRs) correctly, omission of departmental inquiry findings from the police report, and unexplored links suggesting that accused T.V. Prashanth, a petrol pump applicant, who raised bribery allegations against the ADM, acted as a benami for former Kannur district panchayat president P.P. Divya.

She further alleged that the SIT did not collect critical physical evidence, allowed bribery allegations against Mr. Prashanth to stand without verification and ignored discrepancies in electronic data.

“Had a thorough investigation been conducted, these false allegation could have been disproved,” the petition said.

Investigation by the Revenue department had indicated irregularities in the events leading to Naveen Babu’s death, but those conclusions were not reflected in the police documentation.
