In an effort to support holistic education, the Bala Mandir Kamaraj Trust inaugurated the School Expansion and Modernisation Project at Satyamurthi Higher Secondary School on Wednesday in Chennai.
Established at a cost of ₹16 crore the project has been designed to combine academics with opportunities in science, sports, arts, and value-based learning.
The school includes modern classrooms, science laboratories, a STEM learning facility, sports infrastructure, and a large auditorium for cultural and other activities. The project marks an important milestone in the institution’s efforts to provide quality and holistic education to children from disadvantaged backgrounds as well as the surrounding community, according to a press release.
The project was done with support from Braade Stiftung (Denmark), Saint-Gobain India Pvt Ltd, Aptus Value Housing Finance India Ltd and Boeing India Pvt Ltd and others. Praveena Yagnambhat, Chief of Staff and CSR Head, Boeing India and South Asia, K.G. Venkataramanan, Chief Financial Officer, Saint-Gobain India Private Limited (SGIPL) and Maya Gaitonde, Honorary General Secretary and Trustee, Bala Mandir Kamaraj Trust were present at the inauguration.
The Bala Mandir Schools currently has around 400 students and aims to expand its capacity to about 800 students in the coming years.
