Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Wednesday inaugurated a modern, air-conditioned gymnasium for athletes, built at ₹48 lakh, at the Aquatic Gymnastic Badminton sports complex in Velachery. A release says the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) has been upgrading training facilities for athletes across the State. A total of ₹9.78 crore has been allocated to modernise gymnasiums at district-level sports complexes. Mr. Udhayanidhi also inspected the hostel and other facilities. Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ma. Subramanian; Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Youth Welfare and Sports Development Atulya Mishra, and Member Secretary of SDAT J. Meganatha Reddy were present.
