A few things are true: The sun will rise, the sun will set, and people on the internet will always have weirdly intense opinions about what other parents should or should not be doing with little room for nuance.

When one X user came in hot with a parenting take (that she herself acknowledged was a “super strong parenting opinion”) over the weekend, it wasn’t surprising when the internet inevitably did its thing.

“My super strong parenting opinion is that while the kids are awake, you come last,” Laura Hudson (@latterdaylaura) wrote on Sunday. “No spending all of Saturday golfing. That’s family time. 6 am tee time only, maybe. Wanna go to the gym? Go after the kids go to bed, or wake up at 5.”

“In a few short years, they’ll be out of the house and you’ll have all the time in the world for your own stuff,” she continued. “It’s okay to come last for a while.”

It wasn’t long before other users weighed in. Some agreed with the sentiment (18 years can go by pretty quickly, and there’s only so much time you get to baby your babies, make memories and truly get to know the kids you’re raising), noting the various sacrifices it takes to parent and acknowledging the realities of trying to be present with your family in a very busy world.
