Savannah Guthrie Shares ‘Agony’ In First Interview Since Mom’s KidnappingSavannah Guthrie spoke with Hoda Kotb about her perpetual “agony” over the kidnapping of her mother, Nancy, in an emotional interview that’s set to air on NBC’s “Today” this week.“Someone needs to do the right thing. We are in agony. We are in agony,” Guthrie tells Kotb through tears in a clip released Wednesday of her first on-camera interview.“It is unbearable. And to think of what she went through, I wake up every night, in the middle of the night, and in the darkness I imagine her terror, and it is unthinkable but those thoughts demand to be thought, and I will not hide my face. But she needs to come home, now,” she says. Her full interview with Kotb will air in segments Thursday and Friday, Kotb said while previewing the interview on “Today.”“As you can imagine, it was a very emotional conversation,” Kotb said.No plans have been announced yet on when Guthrie may return to her co-hosting role with "Today," though CNN, citing a person close to the show, reported that it could be as early as April.
