The body of a woman construction worker who went missing from Thiruppuvanam was recovered near Tirumangalam here on Tuesday. Police have arrested a young man in connection with the murder.
Police said, Niraikulathan, 66, a resident of Thiruppuvanam in Sivaganga district, had a sister named Saraswathi, 52. A construction worker by profession, she went missing on February 11.
Based on a complaint lodged by Niraikulathan, the Tiruppuvanam police registered a case on February 17 and were conducting an investigation.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Saraswathi was in contact with Saravanakumar, 21, a construction worker from Koodakoil near Thirumangalam in Madurai district.
Following this, the police apprehended and interrogated him. It was found that a relationship had developed between the two while working as construction labourers. In this situation, on February 11, Saravanakumar took Saraswathi to a farm near Koodakoil.
