Relatives of a 32-year-old woman, who was found murdered near a lake at Sirukalapur village in Lalgudi on July 1, blocked Tiruchi–Chennai National Highway near Nedungur on Saturday, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused in the case.The victim, identified as N. Senthamizhselvi, a married woman and a mother of two, was reported missing since the evening of June 30. A missing person case had been registered.Following a search, her body was found the next day on a sand dune near a lake at Sirukalapur in the limits of the Kanakiliyanallur police station. Her hands and legs were found tied. The police conducted inquiries at the scene and the body was shifted to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital in Tiruchi for autopsy.Police subsequently registered a murder case and formed five special teams to investigate the case and arrest the killers.Alleging that there had been no progress in the investigation even 10 days after the body was found, the victim’s relatives and villagers protested on Tiruchi–Chennai highway near Nedungur. The protest brought vehicular traffic on the national highway to standstill for some time.Police officials rushed to the spot and held talks with the protesters.
