The K.K. Nagar police on Monday arrested a 25-year-old food delivery executive on charges of murdering a security guard following a quarrel between them. The victim later died in hospital.

According to police, the victim Velmurugan, 47, was working as a security guard at an apartment complex on Vembuliyamman Koil Street in K.K. Nagar. While he was on duty on March 3, a delivery employee, Dinesh, 25, arrived on a two-wheeler and entered the premises without informing at the entrance.

When Velmurugan tried to stop him, an argument broke out between them. The delivery employee allegedly drove the two-wheeler at high speed and rammed into Velmurugan before assaulting him. Velmurugan lost his balance and fell to the ground, and sustained bleeding injuries.

The injured Velmurugan was first admitted to a private hospital and later shifted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for further treatment. He later died at the hospital without responding to treatment.

K.K. Nagar police arrested Dinesh, a resident of Venkateswara Nagar in Virugambakkam. The two-wheeler used in the incident was seized, and he was produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.
