The District Crime Branch, Perambalur, has arrested three persons, including a woman, on charges of running a fake trust in the district and cheating many people of ₹29.75 lakh.
The names of the arrested were given as K. Chellam, 55, D. Devakumar, 55, both of Lalgudi taluk in Tiruchi district, and K. Parthasarathy, 35, of Veppanthattai taluk in Perambalur district.
The charge against the three was that they deceived some women by claiming that they would arrange interest- free bank loans for persons with disabilities, widows, and destitutes besides providing employment opportunities by imparting training in the manufacture of candle and incense sticks through the trust and cheated them.
They were arrested acting on a complaint preferred by one of the affected women to the District Crime Branch which registered a case. Investigation was on regarding the involvement of other persons, a police press release said.
