Loan offtake by the Micro, Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (MSMEs) in Coimbatore district has improved this year and is expected to surpass the target.

According to the Potential Linked Credit Plan released by the National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development for 2025-2026, the credit flow target for the MSME sector was ₹39,048 crore. Official sources said between April and December, 2025, 87 % of the target was met. There may be a slowdown in March 2026 if the election dates are announced. But, the target will be met.

Revised credit plan for Coimbatore released

For next financial year, the target is almost 23% higher at ₹48,148 crore, which is 65.3% of the total credit flow expected in Coimbatore district for 2026-27 fiscal. The potential linked credit plan also envisages credit flow for export credit to be ₹521 crore and for renewable energy to be ₹99 crore.

The Plan said the thrust areas for the district as identified by NABARD is promotion and development of MSME sector. Due to locational advantage and presence of high entrepreneurial skills, non-farm activities continue to be an important sector of the district.
