MP M. Sribharat flagged off an awareness campaign vehicle organised by the voluntary organisation ‘Uphold’, in partnership with Just Rights for Children, to promote awareness about the ‘Prohibition of Child Marriage Act’, on Wednesday. The campaign was formally launched from the MP’s office at Lawsons Bay Colony.On the occasion, Mr. Sribharat appreciated the efforts of ‘Uphold’, and stated that the organisation has successfully prevented 32 child marriages in and around Visakhapatnam so far. He noted that such awareness campaigns and outreach initiatives are essential to educate communities and prevent the social evil at the grassroots level. Organisation coordinator David Raju, Bal Vikas Foundation founder Narava Prakasha Rao, and other members of the participating organizations were present.Meanwhile, the MP also called upon citizens to come forward and create awareness about the “Be a Rah-Veer” campaign, an initiative aimed at saving the lives of road crash victims by ensuring timely medical assistance. He unveiled the poster for the campaign under the aegis of ‘The Ability People’, an organisation founded by road crash survivor, Dilip Patro.Mr. Sribharat said that no procedural formalities should become an obstacle when transporting accident victims to hospitals. He emphasised that individuals who step forward with humanity to save lives do not require any identity proof or documentation while offering such assistance.
