The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) on Wednesday carried out searches at the combined court complex in Coimbatore and the Tamil Nadu State Judicial Academy (Regional Centre) at Race Course after receiving a bomb threat.Police sources said that an unidentified person sent an email to the judicial academy, threatening an attack involving an explosive material and a poisonous gas at 11.50 a.m. on Wednesday. Two teams of the BDDS carried out thorough searches at the court complex and the judicial academy. Sniffer dogs were also used for the checks. The BDDS teams could not find any suspicious material during the searches, confirming that the threat was a hoax.Sources added that the email threat, written in Tamil, had mentions of Pakistani terrorist Mohammed Ajmal Kasab involved in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack and Ajith Kumar, a young temple security guard, who died during interrogation in police custody in Sivaganga district. It stated that a terrorist who attacked the country was punished after an open trial but an ordinary person accused of a theft lost his life without even getting a chance to face the justice system.
