She was watching from the stands in Milan when Malinin dropped from favorite to eighth place in his event.Biles told Olympics.com that she sent Malinin several bullet points "right away" so he would know that he had her support. She also met and spoke with the figure skater on Tuesday.“Just for someone to validate his feelings and to know we’ve gone through the same things, but you can still come out on top,” she said. “While I was telling him some of what I thought he might be going through or how to move forward from this, he was like, ‘Exactly this. Exactly.’ He was like, ‘You finally just said it.’”In the days since the free skate, Malinin has opened up on social media, suggesting that he was “fighting invisible battles on the inside” even if he appeared to be at his strongest. The 21-year-old "Quad God" admitted to NBC's "Today" show on Tuesday that the pressure from fans and the media may have gotten to him, adding that he wasn't "ready to fully embrace" it.Biles argued that it must've been hard for Malinin to publicly admit to some of his feelings.“But seeing someone and talking to someone that has gone through the same thing and validating that… he’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, yes, this is exactly how I feel. This is how to get over it or process it,'" she said. "And so I think that was really, hopefully, helpful to him.”See All UpdatesClose
