Brett Favre might have been a legendary quarterback, but he’s not very good at playing political football.
On Saturday, the former NFL star explained on X why he won’t be watching Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show Sunday, and he used a less than compelling argument.
“Not familiar with Bad Bunny so don’t know if his music is good or bad. I’m just going to watch what I know Lee Brice, Kid Rock All-American Halftime Show,” he wrote, referring to the performers slated for conservative nonprofit Turning Point USA’s alternative halftime show.
Favre’s lack of curiosity seemed to irk many left-leaning X users, who were more than happy to call out his ignorance. Others took jabs at the former football player’s biggest controversies, which includes ex-New York Jets host Jenn Sterger’s accusation that Favre sent her lewd photos in the past, and his infamous Mississippi welfare case.
In 2022, the state of Mississippi, which is the Hall of Fame quarterback’s home state, accused him of improperly receiving $1 million in welfare funds. Favre was not charged with a crime and paid the $1 million back — although in 2024, a state auditor alleged that Favre still owed nearly $729,000 in interest. It should also be noted that Favre maintained his ignorance during the audit, saying that he didn’t know he had improperly received the money.
