Bad Bunny laughed off his critics while hosting the season premiere of “Saturday Night Live.”
During his opening monologue, the Puerto Rican superstar artist addressed right-wing backlash to word he will headline next year’s Super Bowl halftime show, telling audiences, “I’m very happy and I think everyone is happy about it, even Fox News.”
The conservative news network has been furious at the NFL for tapping Bad Bunny for the big game, calling it un-American for a Spanish-language artist to get the coveted gig while also taking issue with the singer’s decision to opt-out of touring in the U.S. over fears his fans could be targeted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
But “SNL” made it seem like Fox News was all-in on Bad Bunny’s big performance by splicing together the words of several different hosts to make it sound like they collectively said, “He’s my favorite musician, and he should be the next president.”
The right-wing media world hasn’t been the only ones griping about the singer’s appearance at next February’s Super Bowl.
