Ketanji Brown Jackson didn’t go home a winner after Sunday’s Grammy Awards, but the Supreme Court justice’s mere presence at the star-studded ceremony was enough for a GOP lawmaker to call for an investigation.
Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) on Thursday said she was concerned about Jackson’s ability to remain “above political influence” after seeing her take part in the Grammys, which she deemed a a “highly politicized” event.
“We need an investigation into Justice Jackson’s ability to remain impartial,” Blackburn wrote on X.
That same day, Blackburn confirmed via her website that she’d sent a letter to Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts urging him to “initiate an investigation” into Jackson’s participation at an event featuring “many polarized, highly charged anti-law enforcement sentiments.”
“While it is by no means unheard of or unusual for a Supreme Court justice to attend a public function, very rarely — if ever — have justices of our nation’s highest Court been present at an event at which attendees have amplified such far-left rhetoric,” Blackburn wrote.
