As part of the ongoing Fire Safety Awareness Campaign, the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services Department will organise a State-wide basic firefighting training programme for private security guards on February 9.
The training programme will be conducted from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at all the 384 Fire and Rescue Services Stations across Tamil Nadu.
The programme is for security guards employed in private companies, hospitals, apartments, commercial complexes, and other private establishments. A total of 5,732 private security guards from various organisations are expected to participate in the programme, according to sources in the department.
The free training will cover topics such as the use of firefighting equipment, methods to extinguish fires, and the safe evacuation and rescue of occupants during emergencies at workplaces.
G. Sathyanarayanan, Joint Director, Fire and Rescue Services Department, Northern Region, Chennai, said the programme would be conducted at 42 fire stations in the northern region and completion certificates would be issued to all the participants.
