The Lok Sabha was adjourned till noon minutes after resuming proceedings for the day on Friday (February 6, 2026). Speaker Om Birla reprimanded the Opposition MPs for sloganeering and failing to maintain the decorum of the House, adding that a total of 19 hours and 13 minutes of the House have been wasted so far in the Budget Session. The Lower House is expected to take up the general discussion on the Union Budget for 2026-27.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday (February 5, 2026). He did not deliver the customary reply in the Lok Sabha which was questioned by Congress MP K.C. Venugopal, who wrote to Speaker Om Birla alleging “serious procedural irregularities”.

Meanwhile, Mr. Birla said he had advised PM Modi not to come to the House on Wednesday (February 4, 2026) due to “definite information” that Opposition members were prepared to protest in an “unprecedented manner”.
