Rome street artist Laika has created a new piece of work protesting the presence of United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) staff at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
An ICE agent shooting a ski jumper and an upside-down mountain with the Olympic Games logo, where the red circle turns into a crosshair is the image of the new and provocative artwork by Laika, titled "ICE out!", which she has put up in front of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) headquarters in Rome.
The announcement that ICE would be at Milano Cortina sparked protests in Italy even though it was later specified that they would have no operational role and would only be accompanying Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, after they killed two people who were monitoring their migrant round-ups in Minneapolis last month, Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti.
"The presence of the anti-immigration agency is unacceptable," the artist stated.
"In recent months, the whole world has seen its true face: Trump-employed, racist, and violent mobs carrying out veritable Gestapo-style raids.
