Unidentified persons broke into a house of a financier and decamped with over 40 sovereigns of gold and some silver articles in Palayampatti here on Saturday night.
The police said that the family members of Dinesh Kumar (35) of Raghavendra III Street had gone to Vilathikulam to attend a family function on Saturday.
The family was shocked on their return on Sunday evening when they found that the front door was broken open. The valuables kept in an almirah in the bedroom was stolen.
Aruppukottai Town police are investigating.
