The polar bear may be seen as Coca-Cola's spirit animal, but Pepsi makes a play for the furry character in a new Super Bowl commercial.
The ad, which is titled "The Choice" and debuted online Thursday, Jan. 29, stars a polar bear – long associated with Coca-Cola ads – who while blindfolded takes the Pepsi Challenge and points a paw at Pepsi Zero Sugar over Coke Zero Sugar.
After the Jan. 26 release of a teaser video for its upcoming Super Bowl commercial, Pepsi released the full 45-second ad online on Thursday, Jan. 29. A 30-second version will run during the big game on Feb. 8.

The Pepsi Challenge results send the confused bear on "a journey of self-discovery," according to Pepsi's news release about the ad, as he realizes he's fallen for a Pepsi product. He visits a therapist, played by the commercial's director, Academy Award–winning filmmaker Taika Waititi ("JoJo Rabbit").
