Headmasters of 20 government schools in the State, who were nominated for the national-level Swachh Evam Harit Vidyalaya Rating (SHVR–2025), were felicitated here on Tuesday (January 27, 2026).

Speaking after presenting appreciation certificates to the headmasters, Samagra Shiksha State Project Director B. Srinivasa Rao said that the schools that demonstrate outstanding performance in promoting cleanliness and environmental conservation, including provisions of safe drinking water, clean toilets, handwashing with soap, waste management, and plantation activities are selected for the national-level SHVR-2025.

He said at the national-level, 200 such schools would be selected from across the country and each school would be awarded a cash prize of ₹1 lakh by the Centre. Headmasters of the selected schools would also be given the opportunity to participate in a knowledge exposure visit.

Appreciating the role of these 20 schools selected from the State, Mr. Rao said that good practices should not be confined to individual schools alone, but they should be extended to schools within the cluster and complex limits, transforming them into 'Green Schools' as well.

After receiving the certificates, the headmasters said that the recognition had increased their sense of responsibility and that they would strive to make their schools more environmentally friendly in the future.
