Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday (January 24, 2026) said he was extremely happy because the people were happy and he had achieved his objective.

Replying to the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address, Mr. Stalin said that although he was happy when the DMK won the 2021 Assembly election for the sixth time, he had also been weighed down by the burden of responsibility.

“I do not want to hide my feelings. I wondered whether I could shoulder this responsibility, whether I could fulfil the poll promises and provide a government that would make the people happy. I was worried,” he said.

The Chief Minister said he had reason to worry, as the State had suffered setbacks across sectors during the 10-year rule of the AIADMK. “Moreover, we have a non-cooperative Union government that showed partiality. These were the two reasons for my concern,” he said.
