The Syrian government remains committed to a negotiated political settlement despite recent military escalation involving Kurdish-led forces in and around Aleppo, says Lina Shamy, a researcher with Syria’s Ministry of Information .

“It’s important to notice that the Syrian government has always committed to the negotiation track, and it was its position from the beginning and up until now,” she told Al Jazeera from Damascus.
