Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said all arrangements for the upcoming Sammakka-Sarakka Maha Jatara, a biennial event, will be completed by January 15. He emphasised that permanent structures are being constructed to highlight the cultural grandeur of the festival and ensure a hassle-free experience for devotees.
Speaking to the media after reviewing the works at Medaram on Sunday evening, the Deputy CM said the State government has allocated ₹260 crore for this year’s Jatara — ₹150 crore for event arrangements and ₹110 crore for permanent temple infrastructure. “This festival is not just a tribal celebration, it is the heartbeat of Telangana and a symbol of our self-respect,” he remarked.
Mr.Vikramarka informed that nearly 85% of the works have been completed, and directed officials to finish the remaining works by January 15. Accompanied by Ministers Sridhar Babu, Konda Surekha, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Seethakka and Adluri Laxman, he also offered prayers to the deities.
The Deputy CM assured that funds have already been released and bills for completed works are being cleared within 24 hours. He noted that previous governments spent around ₹75-100 crore on the Jatara, whereas the current administration has significantly increased the allocation.
