LOS ANGELES – "When else will you be in the same room as Leonardo DiCaprio?"
That was what one attendee, who introduced herself to DiCaprio inside the BAFTA Tea Party, asked as the "One Battle After Another" star attempted to make his way through the crowd assembled.
The party, which was canceled last year due to the deadly Palisades wildfires, is hosted by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. It's a major stop on the awards season circuit as guests mingle over tea, cocktails and bites like smoked salmon and Welsh rarebit béchamel – cheese sauce melted on a baguette; pretty good!
DiCaprio is in line for another busy awards season. "One Battle" leads all films in nominations at Sunday's Golden Globes (9) and the Screen Actors Guild Actor Awards (7), which air in March. The Paul Thomas Anderson action dramedy already picked up best picture at the Critics Choice Awards.
As for the actor's appearance, it came with both family and fanfare. While inside the Beverly Hills Four Seasons, DiCaprio posed for photos with "One Battle" costar Teyana Taylor and stopped for selfies with fans. Flanked by his parents George and Peggy, DiCaprio was inside the ballroom around onlookers for about 15 minutes. Security escorted him and his family through a side exit.
