Health and Family Welfare Minister Ma. Subramanian inaugurated a new 16-slice CT scanner at the Trauma Care Centre of the Government Rajaji Hospital on Saturday.

The equipment was procured at a cost of ₹2.81 crore through the National Health Mission (NHM) fund.

The Minister also launched an 800 mA digital X-ray unit worth ₹62 lakh. Additionally, the hospital’s mortuary facility was upgraded with 24 new cold storage boxes, installed at a cost of ₹93.50 lakh.

The Radio Diagnosis Department at GRH is currently equipped with five CT scanners. Among these are, an advanced 128-slice CT scanner used for complex procedures such as cardiac angiography and angiography of the upper and lower limbs.

Speaking to journalists, Mr. Subramanian noted that while projects worth ₹4.37 crore were launched on Saturday, the government had spent a total of ₹420 crore on new buildings and high-end medical equipment for GRH alone since assuming office in 2021.
