Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni on Friday welcomed Venezuela's announcement that it would release large numbers of political prisoners.
"I am closely following the situation in Venezuela and hope that President Delcy Rodríguez will bring in a new era of constructive relations between Rome and Caracas," Meloni said in a statement.
"In this regard, I express my gratitude for the decision to initiate the release of political prisoners, including some Italians, and I sincerely hope that this process will continue with further steps in the same direction".
