Victims of various online cheating cases and cyber frauds in Coimbatore city lost a whopping ₹80.16 crore in 2025.

The cybercrime police recovered ₹7.66 crore of the defrauded amount and refunded the same to victims in solved cases.

According to the city police, the cybercrime station received 9,960 complaints in 2025, out of which 7,779 were financial and 2,181 were non-financial. The police registered 289 cases and arrested 60 persons. A total of eight persons involved in cybercrimes were detained under the Goondas Act.

Crackdown on narcotics

The city police arrested 529 persons in 324 cases in 2025, resulted in the seizures of 366.125 kg of ganja, 696 grams of methamphetamine, 66.19 grams of MDMA, 92.43 grams of cocaine, 80 ml of hashish, five grams of heroin, 375 grams of opium derivatives and 14,460 tablets of prescription drugs, totally worth around ₹1.34 crore. The police froze 12 bank accounts of the accused.
