In 2025, Thoothukudi police secured convictions in 31 murder cases resulting in the punishment of 69 individuals. Notably, no caste related murder cases were reported across Thoothukudi district during the past year.
Thoothukudi district police has been taking various measures to maintain law and order in the district. Special attention has been given to crimes such as murder, offenses against women and children, with strict and immediate action taken in all reported cases.
According to a press statement from the district police, out of the 69 individuals convicted in murder cases, nine were awarded double life imprisonment, while the remaining 60 received life imprisonment.
Regarding the property related crimes in the district, in 2025, 77% of the registered property crime cases were solved and 611 offenders have been arrested related to the cases. A total of ₹3.47 crore worth properties have been recovered.
Under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 255 accused persons were arrested and convictions were secured in 29 POCSO Act cases registered, involving 36 offenders. It includes 20 years rigorous imprisonment for a history sheeter.
