The Madhavaram Crime Branch police have arrested three persons breaking into a locked house in Madhavaram and stealing cash and silver articles.

According to police, ‘Highcourt’ Durai, 51, a resident of Ponniammanmedu, Madhavaram, had locked his house and went to the Palani Murugan Temple with his family on December 25. On December 28 night, his neighbour Shenbagavalli informed him over the phone that the lock of his house was found broken.

Following this, Durai informed the police control room. A police team went to the spot and conducted a preliminary inquiry. The complainant said silver articles along with ₹5,000 in cash were missing.

Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and launched an investigation. The police arrested three accused, Rishikesh, 27, of Choolaimedu; Jayanthinathan, 36, of M.K.B. Nagar; and Vignesh, 26, of Kodambakkam.

Police said during interrogation, the accused confessed to breaking open locked houses and committing thefts in and around the Madhavaram area. The police seized 460 grams of silver articles, ₹500 in cash and an autorickshaw used for the offence from their possession.
