Mel Gibson and Rosalind Ross have called it quits on their nearly decadelong romance.

Gibson and Ross, who began dating in 2014, separated about a year ago, the former couple revealed in a statement to People magazine published Tuesday, Dec. 30. The reason for the pair's split was not disclosed.

A representative for Gibson also confirmed the actor's separation from Ross to USA TODAY.

"Although it's sad to end this chapter in our lives, we are blessed with a beautiful son and will continue to be the best parents possible," Gibson and Ross told People. Gibson, a father of nine, shares 8-year-old son Lars with Ross.
