As part of the 2025–26 paddy procurement season, the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation has opened 10 direct paddy procurement centres in the district on Tuesday (December 30, 2025) to directly procure paddy from farmers at the Minimum Support Price.

In a press release, Collector S. Kandasamy said that a total of 45 direct paddy procurement centres have been approved across the district, covering Kuruvai and Samba cultivation areas. In the first phase, procurement centres were opened on Tuesday at Nasiyanur, Kanjikovil, Pethampalayam, Nallampatti, Kasipalayam-1, Kasipalayam-2, Kalingiyam, Pudhuvalliyampalayam-2, Nathipalayam and Gugalur.

Based on the arrival of paddy, 27 more centres will be opened on January 6, 2026, followed by eight on January 20, 2026, the Collector said. The procurement price has been fixed at ₹2,545 per quintal for Grade-A paddy and ₹2,500 per quintal for common paddy, inclusive of incentive. Procurement will be carried out through the e-procurement system, and payments will be credited directly to farmers’ bank accounts after documents verification.

Farmers selling paddy at the centres must produce certificates from the Village Administrative Officer, copies of land records including patta, chitta and adangal, Aadhaar card, bank passbook, and passport-size photographs. The Collector appealed to the farmers to make use of the facilities to ensure fair pricing and timely payment, the release added.
