Packages of ground beef that were distributed in six states are being recalled for concerns of E. coli contamination.
Mountain West Food Group recalled approximately 2,855 pounds of raw ground beef sold under the Forward Farms brand, according to a U.S. Department of Agriculture release issued Dec. 27.
The release stated that the potential contamination was flagged during routine Food Safety and Inspection Service testing, when sampling results showed the presence of E. coli O26.
There have been no reports of illness connected to the recall, according to the release. Consumers who have the recalled meat are advised to throw it away or return it to where it was purchased.
USA TODAY has reached out to Mountain West Food Group for comment late Dec. 29 and did not receive an immediate response.
