TikTok remains one of the most relevant places to find out about new food trends, but in terms of viral dishes and techniques, 2025 was a pretty quiet year. A lot of big trends from past years — like Dubai chocolate, cottage cheese ice cream and, of course, “girl dinner” — just kept showing up on the platform, while new ideas had a tougher time cutting through the noise. But that said, a handful of exciting and resilient food themes were able to make an impression on the folks who know the TikTok world the best: content creators themselves. We asked TikTokers and Instagrammers to name their favorite TikTok food trends of 2025, and these five items topped their best-of lists. J.J. Virgin, a wellness expert and New York Times bestselling author with over 240,000 Instagram followers, believes that kebabs captured the imaginations of TikTok users because they’re “high in protein, easy to create and cook, [and] portable and snackable for a party. [They’re] healthy and delicious.”Abby Cheshire, a private yacht chef and the creator of @AbbyInTheGalley (over 1.5 million TikTok followers), highlighted the helpfulness of TikToks that show users how to make kebabs with doner flavor and texture but without the need for “a rotating spit — something most home kitchens definitely don’t have.” Cheshire applauded the following doner kebab shortcut posted all over TikTok in 2025: “Season ground beef, spread it on parchment paper, roll it up and bake it to get that same flavor and texture as a traditional doner kebab. It’s simple, clever, delicious, and makes a normally restaurant-only dish totally achievable at home.”Onion Ring ChipsA simple two-ingredient snack that got plenty of TikTok attention in 2025, the onion ring chips posted by user @hungryhappens got an enthusiastic shoutout from Yumna Jawad, the chef and recipe creator behind @FeelGoodFoodie (over 2 million TikTok followers). Jawad told us, “I think the onion ring chips trend took off because it hits that sweet spot of being super simple, low-carb, and so crispy with only a couple of ingredients.” These “chips” made with onions and cheese “have that ‘junk-food crunch’ but feel lighter and more wholesome,” she added. Also, she said that the process of making these treats “films beautifully! Every video has that golden, bubbly cheese moment that TikTok loves, which helped [the trend] go viral fast.”Philly CheesesteaksThe signature sandwich of Philadelphia — thinly sliced steak piled onto a hoagie roll with Cheez Whiz or a combination of American and provolone cheeses — has been a hit on TikTok this year. Its popularity was helped a bit when Bradley Cooper became part of Danny & Coop’s Cheesesteaks in New York City. “Creator after creator in NYC was covering this, and unless they were hyping it up for views, they all seemed to really love it. It absolutely flooded my FYP over the summer,” said Jordan Curtis, the content creator behind HotEatsCoolFeets (over 20,000 followers on Instagram).Yogurt Bowls With Chocolate ShellsA sweet treat serving as a healthier alternative to vanilla ice cream with chocolate shell sauce, these bowls feature Greek yogurt mixed with peanut butter or honey; combined with optional add-ins like granola, nuts or fruit; drizzled with a dark chocolate and coconut oil sauce; placed in the freezer to firm up, then enjoyed by cracking the chocolate shell and eating everything in the bowl. @broccyourbody My hyper fixation dessert/snack. This combo is ELITE 👌🏼 20 grams of protein too! Ingredients: 3/4 cup Greek yogurt 1 tablespoon almond butter 2 teaspoons honey 1 teaspoon cinnamon 3 tablespoons granola 3 strawberries, stems removed and diced Chocolate shell: 3 tablespoons chocolate chips 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil Flakey salt to top Instructions: In a small bowl, combine Greek yogurt, almond butter, honey and cinnamon. Once fully combined, stir in the granola and strawberries. For the chocolate shell, melt the chocolate and coconut oil in the microwave at 50% power at 20 second increments, stirring in between, until you can stir the chocolate smooth. You can also melt the chocolate on the stove top using a double broiler (or place a mixing bowl on top of a saucepan filled halfway with water over medium heat). Pour the melted chocolate over the yogurt and rotate to fully coat the top of the yogurt. Add a pinch of flakey sea salt and freeze for 5-10 minutes until the shell has hardened. You can keep it simple or add fruit, nuts, spices or mix-ins, and the thick texture makes it feel indulgent while still being high-protein! The bowls are colorful and visually fun, easy to customize, and show how creative healthy eating can be.”Dubai TacosTikTok food videos have showcased fusion concepts blending different dining cultures for several years now, and in 2025, one of the best examples of this always-popular theme came in the form of “Dubai Tacos.” These tacos feature ground beef seasoned with Middle Eastern aromatics like cardamom, cinnamon and coffee. The beef then gets mixed with chopped onion and jalapenos, cooked on a griddle in smash burger fashion, and placed on a corn tortilla with a layer of cheese and optional garnishes like cilantro, pico de gallo and tahini sauce. @ketoblackstonerecipes 🔥 Street tacos… but make it Dubai style. 🌮✨ Bold beef spiced with cardamom, cinnamon, and coffee, topped with a lemony tahini–chili sauce cooked to perfection on @Blackstone Griddles .
