Volunteers working under the ‘Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam’ scheme submitted a petition to the Sivaganga Collector, demanding release of salaries that had been pending for the past two months..
The volunteers from Thirupuvanam block stated, “We are provided this monthly amount under the name of an ‘incentive.’ Out of this small sum, we must cover our own vehicle fuel expenses for travel. We are struggling to make ends meet with the remaining meagre amount.”
However, even that payment was not provided regularly every month, they added.
As their families were severely affected by the delay, they have demanded the district administration to immediately intervene in the matter and disburse the pending salaries.
