Demanding salary hike, members of ‘Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam’ scheme workers staged demonstration near the Collectorate and submitted petition on Wednesday.The protestors said the government should bear the entire expense of the ‘Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam’ scheme instead of forcing the staff to bear some of the expenditure. The incentive of ₹5,000 being given to the ‘Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam’ scheme staff should be increased to ₹15,000.The ‘Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam’ scheme staff should be made permanent by appointing them in the permanent vacancies arising in the government hospitals and government medical college hospitals, they said.
