A response was sought from the Office of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on the number of victims yet to receive compensation and the reasons for the delay, but no reply was received at the time of going to press. However, a source said 11 victims have been compensated. “We are awaiting clarification from the police on the remaining applicants. The police have not yet confirmed whether all applicants are victims or whether any have links to the accused,” the source said.
The Delhi government had announced an ex gratia of ₹10 lakh for families of the deceased, ₹5 lakh for victims with permanent disability, ₹2 lakh for those with serious injuries and ₹20,000 for victims with minor injuries. However, several victims, including families of those killed, say they have not received any compensation so far.
