State Bank of India (SBI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Puducherry government for extending the benefits under the State Government Salary Package (SGSP) scheme for the latter’s employees. The MoU also includes a Police Salary Package (PSP) component.

Chief Secretary Sharat Chauhan and S. Haritha Poornima, general manager (Network-3), SBI, Chennai Circle, were the signatories of the agreement in the presence of Ratna Ghosh Kishore, Joint Secretary (Finance), H. Sheik Moideen, Director, Department of Accounts and Treasuries (DAT), Balanand R., SBI deputy general manager (business and operations), Salem, Smitha S. Nair, DGM, Chennai) M. Natarajan, regional manager, Puducherry, and S. Anbumalar, assistant general manager, SBI.

M. Nandhini, K. Balasubramaniyan K.M. Harish, D. Parthasarathy and Rajadurai Venkatesan from SBI also attended the function.

According to a press note, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has agreed to the request made by Mr. Natarajan, who had called on him, to encourage government employees to make use of the scheme’s benefits.

The facilities include personal accident insurance cover of up to ₹1 crore and group term insurance cover of ₹10 lakh to employees who maintain SGSP and PSP salary accounts with the SBI. In addition to the existing salary account customers, the benefits will be extended to new employees who will open new salary accounts with the SBI. The bank will also offer concession in processing charges for a range of loans, the press note said.
