The Department of Rural Development in Puducherry has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indian Bank’s Rural Self-Employment Training Institute to construct a permanent skill development training centre in the Union Territory (UT).The centre will be constructed with financial assistance from the Union Ministry of Rural Development in one acre of land owned by the department, at Chinnaveerampattinam in Manavely village.Indian Bank’s Rural Self-Employment Training Institute has been conducting skill development programmes for rural youth in collaboration with the department. Currently, the classes are being conducted out of rented buildings.The training programmes are held with the aim to pave the way for the sustainable economic upliftment of rural youth and women by enhancing their financial status through skill development, an official release said.The MoU was signed by S. Manickadeepan, Director of Department of Rural Development, and J. Josephine Sahaya Rani, director of Indian Bank Rural Self-Employment Training Institute, in the presence of Chief Secretary Sharat Chauhan.Commissioner-cum-Secretary Krishna Mohan Uppu, Regional Manager of Indian Bank M.
