General Aymeric Bonnemaison, 57, took over as head of France's Directorate for Defense Protection and Security (DRSD) in September, after serving as head of military cyber defense from 2022 until summer 2025. The DRSD, which has its roots in military counter-espionage, is tasked with counter-intelligence within the armed forces, their families, military bases and the defense industry. The DRSD is also at the forefront of investigations into the recent drone overflights above French military bases.
In 2024, your predecessor, General Philippe Susnjara, spoke of a 50% increase in physical attacks against military entities and a 60% increase in cyberattacks. What exactly is meant by "physical" attacks, and has this trend continued at the end of 2025?
