In a case of reported honour killing, a pregnant young woman who had returned to the village few months after her intercaste marriage, was attacked with lethal weapons resulting in her death in the hospital. Her husband and in-laws have also sustained injuries.
The brutal attack took place at Inam Veerapur village near Belagali of Hubballi taluk on Sunday (December 21, 2025) and the pregnant woman and the baby in her womb succumbed to the injuries on Sunday night.

The deceased has been identified as Manya Vivekanad Doddamani (19). Her husband Vivekananda Doddamani, his parents too have suffered injuries and are admitted to a private hospital in Hubballi.
Following the incident, Superintendent of Police Gunjan Arya, Hubballi Dharwad Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar, Inspector Murugesh Channannavar visited hospital in Hubballi to collect details of the injured. As a precautionary measure security has been beefed up around the hospital and in the village.
