The Sankar Nagar police have arrested a 30-year-old man from Bengaluru for allegedly stabbing to death a 29-year-old woman, with whom he was in a relationship, after she refused to accompany him to Bengaluru and live with him.The investigation began after the police recovered the body of Reshma from her house in Anakaputhur on Wednesday. Special teams were formed to trace the suspect, Venkatesh, who had fled to Bengaluru. He was arrested there, brought to Chennai, and interrogated.During questioning, Venkatesh allegedly told police that he had been in love with Reshma before she married Ashok about 10 years ago. The couple had two children. Despite her marriage, Venkatesh allegedly continued to maintain an illicit relationship with her and visited her frequently. The police said Reshma had become pregnant as a result of the relationship.According to investigators, Venkatesh had visited Reshma a day before the murder and insisted that she leave with him for Bengaluru so they could live together. When she refused, he left but returned the following morning. Reshma then allegedly used pepper spray to send him away. Enraged by this, Venkatesh her multiple times with a knife, killing her on the spot. He then fled to Bengaluru by flight. Published - June 27, 2026 11:42 pm IST
