A 48-year-old man died in the hospital after reportedly being bitten by a stray dog in Kodungaiyur.
The deceased was identified as Arul Thiyagarajan, a resident of Koyyathope in Kodungaiyur, who worked as a painter. The police said that on December 8, Arul Thiyagarajan, who was drunk, was bitten by a stray dog near NSK Road, while returning from work and had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital since then.
On Friday morning, around 9.30 a.m., his condition deteriorated rapidly. Thiyagarajan’s brother Soundararajan rushed him to Government Stanley Medical Hospital for treatment.
However, doctors at the hospital declared him dead.
The police initiated an inquiry into the incident.
